128. How Astrology Is Misconstrued – John L Lash
Conflating the astrological ages with the zodiacal signs and their association with certain characteristics creates a lot of confusion, explains mythologist John Lash.
Ordinary, zodiacal astrology, is a misnomer, he thinks, because there are no stars in it, except for the sun. The constellations the signs are named after are not neatly placed within each sign. And not only that, they are moving, one degree every 72 years.
Zodiac astrology and astrological ages are two different operating systems. One is about psychology, the other is about history and myth.
“It’s not a causal relationship, it’s a mirroring relationship. The constellations are signals”, says John.
Every astrological age has a different length in time, in John Lash’s interpretation. Assessing when an age begins and ends takes some calculating.
We all want to know when the hyped age of Aquarius begins. In this episode, you’ll get John’s answer. (Audio links in comments.)
